By Suleman Chitera Oct25,2022

The Chinese Embassy has donated K27.6 million to Shaping Our Future Foundation to help in the organisation’s scholarship programme for vulnerable girls and boys in the country.

Speaking when she received the donation, First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera said the financial help will expand education opportunities for girls and boys and take them out of poverty.

Madam Chakwera said by educating the marginalised girls and boys they have empowered them to contribute positively to the country’s development.

In his remarks, the Chinese Ambassador to Malawi, Long Zhou, said China is doing well in promoting girls’ education and equal rights.

He said girls’ education is a priority in China and this is why they are supporting the country to improve on the same.

This is the third time the Chinese Government has supported the Shaping Our Future Foundation in a similar cause. The organisation has so far provided scholarships to 1600 needy students in over 100 secondary schools across the country.
