Father, Son Arrested For Cultivating Cannabis

Police in Ntchisi have arrested a man identified as Zakalia Nyirenda aged 56 together with his 24 – year – old son, Lufeyo Zakalia, for allegedly cultivating cannabis sativa, locally known as chamba.

Ntchisi Police Spokesperson Yohane Tasowana, has confirmed about the development saying the due were arrested yesterday at Kafulu Village in Traditional Authority Chilooko’s area in the district.

He says the police worked on a tipp from well wishers who informed that the suspects were captivating the illicit crop in the village.

According to Tasowana, the law enforcers have since uprooted about 945 plants of the said crop which will be sent to Chitedze Research Station for analysis.
