FUM Warns ADMARC With Plans To Export Maize

The Farmers Union of Malawi (FUM), has warned that ADMARC should only proceed with its plans to export maize, until it confirms availability of adequate grain stocks in the country’s silos.

The state-run produce marketer intends to start exporting part of its maize stock, subject to the government’s consent.

This is aimed at sourcing extra resources to sustain its operations amid financial challenges.

According to FUM President Frighton Njolomole, ADMARC should first assure the nation of food security before proceeding with the move.
