Hifa Group of Companies cheers flood victims in Chikwawa

One of the fast growing businesses in Chikwawa district, Hifa Group of Companies, on Saturday donated various items worthy K500,000 to flood victims in the district as one way of helping them continue maintaining their living standards in the aftermath of the January 24, 2022 devastating disasters.

The donation was made at Kaponda area and Tiwasamale Camp respectively reaching to 100 beneficiaries.

Speaking in an interview, Hifa Group of Companies, Chief Executive Officer, Anganile Ngosi said due to the damage that Cyclone Ana caused earlier this year many people in the district were affected.

“Most of them lost food and shelter and also their livestock were washed away rendering them helpless hence their flee for their dear lives to the camps to try find relief.

“So, I thought it wise to come and interact with them and also provide them with the small small stuff just to help them ease the pain they went through when the disasters happened and the pain they are still going through,” he said

According to Ngosi, the donation has been made as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) saying Hifa Group of Companies as an entity operating in Chikwawa lives to ensure that it demondtrate its responsibility that people of Chikwawa are benefiting from it.

“So, as a company we considered this as an opportunity to return and give back the little we have to the local people of Chikwawa,” said Ngosi

In his remarks one of the beneficiaries, at Kaponda camp, a Chisale said the donation came at the right time.

“Honestly, we never expected this to happen at this time when many people are facing economic hardships. Surely, a friend inneed, is a friend indeed,” he said

According to Ngosi, the donation was made possible with support from other well wishers.

Some of the items that were distributed to the victims of the two camps on Saturday include; shoes, clothes, sugar among others.
