World Bank dumps kapichira hydro project, Malawians To Brace More Blackouts

By Suleman Chitera Nov7,2022

Malawians must brace for more blackouts beyond December deadline following World Bank’s decision to suspend the funding on the rehabilitation of Kapichira Hydro Power Station due to poor specifications against the international standards.

World Bank says the Chinese company that is working on the site had cut corners against the agreement they signed with technical stuff from World Bank.

This has made them to withhold aid until all of their concerns are addressed.
