Malawi Law Society For Enhanced Economic Transformation

Malawi Law Society (MLS) President, Patrick Mpaka, says lawyers have a crucial role to play in ensuring development for every Malawian.

He made the remarks in Mangochi during the opening of the society’s Annual General meeting and Conference which has drawn over 500 lawyers.

“The conference will look at the progress of development in the country since 1994 to determine whether it meets the aspirations of the constitution. ” Said Mpaka.

The AGM is being held under the theme: “Beyond Rhetoric Impunity, Law, Governance and Economic Transformation.’

For her part, British High Commissioner to Malawi Sophia Willits-King commended MLS and the Government of Malawi for the effort and contribution towards opening up the economy.
