The appointment of Frank Mbeta as Attorney General has come under scrutiny after legal practitioner Alexious Kamangira questioned his suitability for the influential legal post.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Kamangira raised concerns over Mbeta’s alleged connection to the controversial Amaryllis Hotel deal, which has attracted widespread public attention due to alleged financial and contractual irregularities.
Kamangira claimed that the Ministry of Finance played a key role in approving and overseeing financial disbursements related to the hotel project. According to him, this has raised broader questions about the management and oversight of public funds linked to the transaction.
He argued that any alleged association with the matter is troubling, particularly given the Attorney General’s constitutional duty to ensure the lawful management and protection of state resources.
The comments come amid growing scrutiny of the Amaryllis Hotel transaction, with several stakeholders calling for greater transparency and accountability in how public funds were handled in the deal.
