Musician WalyCris Laid To Rest

Musician WalyCris, who died in a road accident on Friday last week, has been laid to rest this afternoon in Machinjiri, Blantyre.

The artist, famed for his song Achalume, died in Zimbabwe while on his way back home from South Africa where he went to perform with Zembani Band. Thousands of people thronged Hammers Primary School Ground in Makhetha, Machinjiri where a ceremony was held before he was taken to his final resting place.

Among the people present were fellow artists such as Leslie Moyo, comedian Mr Jokes, his producer Juxy and Mikozi Online chief executive officer Bright ‘Excess’ Chiligo.

In an interview, Juxy said the deceased was talented and quick.

“He was humble and friendly. He interacted with everyone. His music concepts were always intriguing. We produced many songs together, which will be released in due course. ”

According to his sister Fatima, WalyCris, real name Wyson Laifoh, hailed from Nsomba village in Mangochi. He was 25 years old and is survived by a wife and two children.
