Mzuzu City Mayor Defilement Case Adjourned To Next Month

Mzuzu Child Justice Court has adjourned to 4th October 2022, hearing of the case in which Mzuzu City mayor Gift Desire Nyirenda is being accused of defiling his 14-year-old niece.

The court was supposed to start hearing the case today.

During the supposed first hearing of the case, it was revealed that the State did not serve disclosure documents to the defence team.

Senior Resident Magistrate, Felix Kamtsalira, adjourned the case to 4 October so that the State should prepare its documents and lineup its witnesses before the commencement of the full trial.

The accused person was arrested on 12 August and granted bail on 19 August 2022.
