Police Hunting Chipiliro Kaliyopa

Police in Lilongwe are hunting for Chipiliro Kaliyopa, a man suspected to have duped Malawi Congress Party MCP youth league members with a promise to help them join Malawi police service.

Kaliyopa who is also MCP youth league member held a press briefing on Tuesday this week where he explained his side of the story and disclosed plans to hand himself over to the police on Wednesday.

Kaliyopa who admitted to have received k37 000 from the youths and not k150 000 as it was being reported, told the media that he did nothing wrong as he was just trying to help the youths who are suffering in the country.

Despite saying he was to hand himself over to the Police on Wednesday, Kaliyopa did not do that as the Police have disclosed on Friday that they are still hunting for Kaliyopa.

Harry Namwaza National Deputy Police Spokesperson has told MIJ FM, that Kaliyopa is still on the run and has urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to report to the police.
