POLICE IMPOUND 20 UNROADWORTHY MOTOR VEHICLES, 11 ARRESTED FOR TOUTING IN ZOMBA

As one way of reducing road accidents and intensifying security, police in Zomba have impounded 20 unroadworthy motor vehicles for various traffic offences.

Publicist for Zomba Police, Sub Inspector Patricia Sipiliano, said during the operation, conducted on 19 August 2022, police managed to arrest 11 suspected people for touting.

“Police through traffic office here in Zomba conducted the operation following numerous road accidents by unroadworthy motor vehicles. The aim is to reduce road accidents and bring sanity to the road users while containing some criminal activities done by some of the operators in the township,” said Sipiliano.

Meanwhile, owners of motor vehicles have been charged to pay different fines according to the offences committed.

The call boys are expected to appear before court to answer charges levelled against them.
