Societal Stigma Worry Women With Albinism In Mangochi

Women with albinism in Mangochi are claiming, they are finding it hard to get a spouse due to societal stigma and misconception.

According to the women, most of the time, prospective spouses, who are not albinos are wrongly advised against marrying an albino, for fear of being in trouble in an event that the woman is kidnapped or attacked.

They say the trend is pushing a lot of women with albinism into spinsterhood.

This has come to light when the Catholic Commission for peace and justice (CCJP) organised an interface with members of area development committees around Mangochi and people with albinism to empower them with skills on how they can defend and promote their rights.
