Sports talent identification excites youths in Chitipa

Youths in Chitipa are delighted with the district sports office’s plans to conduct talent identification in sporting activities this year.

In an interview, District Sports Officer for Chitipa, Rowland Thepeka Harawa said the process will see through young talents from local sports clubs that need to be nurtured so that they can upgrade to elite leagues.

Harawa said the talent identification is one way of promoting sporting activities which is going to be a routine activity since it will follow up every sports tournament or competition that is going to take place in the district.

He further said it is his office’s desire to introduce new sports games such as volleyball, basketball, handball and tennis in the district.

A player for Young K Rangers, Solomon Ngwira, is excited with the development saying he is preparing himself for the competitions coming ahead.

“I am happy since this activity will expose us to the country and the world as a whole,” he said.
