TRADITIONAL LEADERS FUNDRAISE FOR POLICE

Group Village Heads under Traditional Authority Chilikumwendo in Dedza are to organise a fundraising event to buy motorbikes for their police units at Kabwazi and Chafumbwa in the area.

TA Chilikumwendo said the village heads from his area, with the blessings of the Area Development Committee, thought of organising the event to buy at least two motorbikes.

“We noted that our police officers at Kabwazi and Chafumbwa police units, do not have motorbikes to patrol the area,” said the Ngoni Chief.

Commenting on the development, Dedza Police Publicist, Edward Kabango, described the initiative as a welcome development.

“As police, we do not have any problem with traditional leaders mobilising resources to support us and others should emulate the example set by these local leaders,” said Kabango.

Kabwazi and Chafumbwa police units serve a population of more than 50,000 households in the area of TA Chilikumwendo.
