A new stadium in Mponela Dowa is set to spur the development of football at the grassroots level.
Msaiwale Kavina, the owner of a 20, 000 capacity Champions Stadium in Mponela Dowa, said the facility is expected to start hosting major football games once completed.
“Some of the districts in the country like Dedza, Nkhotakota, Balaka, and Mulanje have their standard football pitches that draw major football games. Dowa is different. It does not have such a facility. This is a game-changer and will be a positive step in the development of football,” said Kavina.
He added that the facility complements government efforts of creating jobs as well as provides a platform for the promotion of other sporting disciplines such as Boxing and Netball.
