NOCMA Board To Face Wrath Of Parliament,
Board members of the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) board risk facing the wrath of parliament for failing to appear before Public Appointments Committee–PAC.
They were summoned to appear before PAC yesterday over issues surrounding former NOCMA Acting CEO, Hellen Buluma, on whether she got fired or resigned on her own.
According to the parliamentary committee, the NOCMA board did not give any excuse for not showing up.
Buluma left NOCMA last week after tendering a resignation letter but the government claimed that she was fired a day earlier.
Buluma who appeared before the committee yesterday, made shocking revelations that the Secretary to the Government Colleen Zamba pressurized her to sign dubious fuel deals.
PAC Chairperson Joyce Chitsulo hints that the fate of the defiant NOCMA board will be known after consulting standing orders and parliament’s legal team.
