Lilongwe December 20 Mana: Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC can be hopeful ahead of the 2023 TNM Super League season after they clinched the much awaited Airtel Top 8 silverware to end their long trophy drought.
Under the tutelage of Coach Mark Harrison, Wanderers FC had a wonderful run in the 2022 Airtel Top 8 competition which they ended up winning on December 17 at Bingu National Stadium through penalties against Nyasa Big Bullets.
Harrison expressed confidence to excel in the upcoming season, underlying current developments the team is under-going to ensure they are at par with their rivals.
“We came through and won the cup which sets a platform for Mighty Wanderers FC moving forward; for the last few years the team has been desperate for a trophy and now we have to build ahead of next season,” said Harrison.
Meanwhile assistant coach for Wanderers, Bob Mpinganjira, highlighted the diversity which the team is playing with currently, stating that they have done a lot of adjusting and hope to recruit new players.
Coach of Nyasa Big Bullets, Airtel Top 8 runners up, Calisto Pasuwa, relished the defeat from their Blantyre derby rivals, saying Wanderers used their excellent form towards the end of the season to win the cup.
Wanderers Club President Dr Thom Mpinganjira revealed that the players will share the MK17.5 million price money among themselves.
