Malawi’s Minister of Education, Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, has commended the Solon Foundation for its invaluable contribution to the country’s education sector.
The foundation has constructed classroom blocks, science laboratories, and teachers’ houses in several secondary schools in the Northern Education Division.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of the newly constructed facilities at Jenda Community Day Secondary School in Mzimba, Wirima expressed her gratitude to the Solon Foundation for their support.
“The infrastructural support provided by the Solon Foundation complements our government’s efforts to create a conducive learning environment for all students,” she said.
Wirima emphasized the importance of investing in education, citing the government’s vision to provide quality education for all Malawians. She appealed to the school management committee, the community, and the students to take good care of the facilities to ensure they benefit future generations.
In his remarks, Solon Foundation Executive Director, Willie Dhlandhlara, expressed his gratitude for the good relationship between the Ministry of Education and the foundation.
“Our efforts aim to facilitate students’ access to university education by bridging previous gaps and making the learning and teaching processes more effective,” he said.
Dhlandhlara emphasized the importance of investing in education, stating that the future is not a distant prospect but an immediate concern. He revealed that the institution has invested USD 1.5 million in infrastructural support for secondary schools.
