Mutharika reiterates commitment to transforming Lower Shire

Malawi’s Former President Arthur Peter Mutharika has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the Lower Shire into an economic powerhouse.

Speaking at Bangula on Sunday 1st December Mutharika emphasized his dream of unlocking the potential of Nsanje and Chikwawa districts.

Mutharika acknowledged the hardships faced by Malawians, particularly those in Nsanje district, and expressed awareness of the numerous programs meant to build local resilience in the Lower Shire that have been halted.

He criticized the current administration, claiming that President Lazarus Chakwera has exposed the people of the district to extreme poverty.

Mutharika reaffirmed his vision for the establishment of Bangula University, the first higher learning institution in the area, as a key step towards development in the Lower Shire.

Mutharika urged those who left the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), UTM, and other parties to return to their political home.

He called for unity within the DPP, saying it was time to rebuild a strong party under the “Mighty DPP”.

Again,, Mutharika urged people of Nsanje District to register and vote in the upcoming elections, saying it is the only wayl to restore the district’s past glory and potential.
