Members of the Holy Guardian Angels Mphakati of Nathenje Parish recently underwent a one-day training in leadership skills, aimed at empowering them to run their small Christian community effectively.
The training, conducted by Mr. Jonas Kachikho, Catechist for Nathenje Centre, covered spiritual, economic, and practical aspects, equipping members with skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
In his speech, Mr. Kachikho encouraged members to work hard, save the parish, and listen to their members’ ideas, emphasizing that they are apostles and disciples of Jesus.
The training was fruitful, according to participants, who learned about types of baptism, liturgical calendar, and how to improve their Mphakati.
Mai Anne Chilwa, Chairlady of Catholic Women Association (CWA), expressed gratitude to Mr. Kachikho, saying they learned a lot and appreciated the training.
Mr. Malaki Kambani Banda, Chairperson of Holy Guardian Angels, thanked Mr. Kachikho and promised to practice what they learned.
Holy Guardian Angels is one of 84 Mphakatis under the jurisdiction of Ss Peter & Paul, Lilongwe Archdiocese, and is performing well spiritually and financially with 36 members.
The Mphakati was established in March 2025 and has shown remarkable growth, with plans for quarterly training sessions to continue empowering its members.
