The donation was officially received by First Lady Gertrude Mutharika, who serves as BEAM Matron. The consignment comprises 1,420 bags of five kilogrammes each and 1,400 bags of 10 kilogrammes each, and will be distributed to families whose livelihoods have been severely disrupted by the floods.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, FDH Bank Managing Director Noel Nkulichi said the bank was compelled to act swiftly following the First Lady’s appeal for support, noting that the scale of destruction caused by heavy and persistent rains demanded collective action from responsible corporate citizens.

“The floods have left many households homeless and destroyed property and sources of income in several parts of the country. As a bank that is deeply rooted in the communities we serve, we felt it was our duty to respond decisively and stand with Malawians in this difficult moment,” Nkulichi said.

In her remarks, Mutharika commended FDH Bank for its timely and impactful intervention, describing the donation as a powerful demonstration of corporate social responsibility and solidarity with vulnerable communities.

“This contribution will go a long way in easing the burden faced by affected families. Beyond providing food, it helps restore dignity and hope to people who have lost almost everything,” she said.

The donation underscores FDH Bank’s broader commitment to sustainable development and social impact, reinforcing its role not only as a financial institution but also as a dependable partner in national recovery and resilience-building efforts.
