40 Arrested In Stopped Anti Judiciary Demonstrations

At least 40 people are in police custody for insisting to continue holding anti-judiciary protests in the capital, Lilongwe despite a court injunction restraining them.

Lilongwe Police spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu has confirmed the development.

He says they have charged the suspects with contempt of court and unlawful assembly.

Some of the notable faces arrested include Kingsley Mpaso, Phunziro Mvula, Billy Banda, Jonathan Phiri, Victor Nyenyeliwa, Harale Aubrey, Edward Kambenje and Chimwemwe Mphepo.

Meanwhile, Chigalu has dismissed reports that a police officer has been killed during the protests.
