Secretary General of the Malawi Congress Party Eisenhower Mkaka has called on the party’s members across the country to focus on strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
Mkaka made the remarks in Lilongwe at the end of a day-long National Executive Committee meeting which President Dr Lazarus Chakwera, who is also the leader of the party attended.
After day-long deliberations, Mkaka said MCP believes in following the party’s constitution which demands its NEC hold regular meetings to iron out different issues.
At the NEC meeting, he said the key word is unity.

Mkaka further said Dr Chakwera who is the President of the party wants to see a more unified and strengthened MCP, especially at the grassroots.
On vacant positions in the NEC, he said they will be filled at an opportune time.
This becomes the second NEC meeting since 2020.
