The Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has suspended its vigils at the Capital Hill main entrance in Lilongwe, citing security concerns.
CDEDI has been holding the vigils to push for the resignation of Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, for failing to recover 750 million kwacha for the Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP).
Its Executive Director Slyvester Namiwa, has told journalists this morning in Lilongwe that the withdrawal is due to security lapse and other strange events.
He claims that police have withdrawn the security personnel that was assigned hence raising security threats at the vigil premises.
The Malawi Police Service has not commented on the matter.
