Man Arrested in Blantyre for Allowing Abuse of Biological Child

Police in Blantyre have arrested a 48-year-old man, Macferson Chitala, on allegations that he allowed his biological child to be abused by his second wife.

Speaking to Zodiak this morning, South Lunzu Police Station Officer-in-Charge Patricia Njawiri stated that Chitala and his second wife, Linda Chitala, are expected to appear in court tomorrow.

Njawiri explained that despite living in the same house with his second wife, Chitala failed to protect his child from repeated physical abuse by her.

“Evidence shows that the man has neglected his responsibility to safeguard the child, even though he resides in the same home where the abuse takes place,” said Njawiri.

The case has sparked concern over child protection in family settings, with calls for stronger action against child abuse and neglect.
