Mighty Wanderers Legends’ Chairperson, Gerald Phiri Snr says his side is on track in terms of preparations for the upcoming International Legends Cup at Kamuzu Stadium this weekend.
Speaking to Wanderers Media ahead of the cup games, Phiri says they have done adequate preparations as they face their counterparts from Saturday.
“We are on track, we participated in the 7-aside-tournament last weekend where we reached the finals and emerged victorious, defeating Bullets Legends 4-0 in the finals. We have our final training session today [Thursday] and we are confident of performing better in the tournament ,” remarked the former Nomads’ hitman.
Phiri is further urging all Wanderers Legends’ supporters to throng Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday and Sunday to give morale to the former Mighty Wanderers super stars.
Mighty Wanderers Legends will play their first semifinal match against old rivals Nyasa Big Bullets Legends on Saturday afternoon from 2:30PM. On the other hand, Silver Strikers Legends will have an early semifinal kick off facing Dynamos FC Legends from Zimbabwe at 12 noon.
Yasin ‘Njinga’ Osman, Sangala brothers (George and James), Joseph ‘JK 10’ Kamwendo, Mpinganjira brothers (Bob and Albert), Gift Zakazaka, Lawrence ‘Ticotico’ Majawa, Foster ‘Zagaf’ Namwera, Tendai ‘Tegu’ Mbisa, Francis ‘FM7’ Mlimbika, Billiat ‘Angelezi’ Mkwapatira, Alfred Manyozo Jnr, Victor Nyirenda, Bongani ‘Ngamira’ Kaipa and many others are expected to star for the Lali Lubani Legends during the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Cup organizers have announced that they will be selling pre-match tickets in selected outlets including at Kamuzu Stadium, Total F/S at Limbe Market, Puma F/S at Limbe Hardware and Ndirande Engem among others.
