In a demonstration of their commitment to community service and environmental sustainability, the Mzuzu University (MZUNI) Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Wing is set to conduct a clean-up service at Luwinga Market on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

The event, which aims to promote hygiene, encourage responsible waste management, and strengthen the relationship between students and the local community, will see members of the MZUNI DPP Wing, alongside market vendors and local residents, participate in sweeping, collecting garbage, and disposing of waste properly.

Speaking ahead of the event, the President of the MZUNI DPP Wing, Blessings Chikopa, emphasized the importance of keeping public spaces clean.

“We believe that leadership is not just about politics but also about service.Through this clean-up initiative, we want to inspire a culture of cleanliness and responsibility within our communities,” he stated.

In addition to the clean-up exercise, the wing will engage vendors and residents in awareness talks on proper waste disposal and environmental conservation.

The initiative aligns with Malawi’s broader efforts to combat poor sanitation and pollution in urban markets.

The MZUNI DPP Wing has encouraged all students, party members, and community members to join this noble cause and make Luwinga Market a cleaner, healthier environment.

The event is expected to bring together people from all walks of life, fostering a sense of community and social responsibility.

The clean-up initiative is part of the MZUNI DPP Wing’s ongoing efforts to give back to the community.

The wing has been involved in various community service projects, including charity work, environmental conservation, and awareness campaigns on social issues.

The event is also seen as an opportunity for the MZUNI DPP Wing to promote the values of the Democratic Progressive Party, which emphasizes the importance of community service, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability.

As Malawi prepares for the 2025 general elections, the MZUNI DPP Wing’s clean-up initiative serves as a reminder of the importance of community service and social responsibility in leadership.

By leading by example, the wing hopes to inspire others to follow suit and make a positive impact in their communities.
