Parachute Battalion have emerged as the champions of the 2025 Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Inter-Service Sports Festival.
The sporting festival took place at the Malawi Armed Forces College in Salima.
Second Malawi Rifles, based at Kamuzu Barracks, finished in second place.
Third Malawi Rifles, commonly known as Moyale Barracks, secured the third position.
As winners, Parachute Battalion have taken home a grand prize of K5 million.
In his closing address, MDF Commander General Paul Valentino hailed the event as a tremendous success.
He emphasized that the sports festival serves multiple purposes beyond competition.
“The sports festivals are meant to, among others, identify talent so that we can compete strongly at national level. We want to give civilians a tough competition. The games are also meant to give our troops opportunity to interact, network and also build friendship,” General Valentino said.
The Inter-Service Sports Festival is a key annual event for the MDF, fostering unity, camaraderie, and athletic excellence within the military.
