By Suleman Chitera,
A court in South Africa has ruled that the body of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu should not be buried in South Africa, contrary to the wishes of some family members.
This development follows a petition filed by the office of Zambia’s Director of Public Prosecutions, seeking a court order to compel Lungu’s family to have his body repatriated and buried in Zambia.
The court has acknowledged receipt of the petition and has ordered the state prosecutor to submit formal complaints by July 3 if repatriation of the body is necessary.
Meanwhile, the court has also instructed Lungu’s family to respond to the matter before July 4.
The case is scheduled to continue on July 18
