South Africa’s newly promoted Betway Premier Soccer League side, Durban City FC, has opened transfer talks with Malawi’s FCB Nyasa Big Bullets for the potential signing of defender Blessings Mpokera and midfielder Chikumbutso Salima.
The development, first reported by South African football outlet Kickoff, comes as Durban seeks to bolster its squad ahead of the upcoming league season.
Sources close to the negotiations say Durban dispatched one of its senior coaches, Ernst Middendorp, to assess the players during last weekend’s Airtel Top 8 Cup final in Malawi.
Reports indicate that Middendorp was impressed by the performances of both Mpokera and Salima and subsequently recommended the club pursue their signatures.
If the move materializes, it would mark a major breakthrough for both players and underline the growing reputation of Malawi’s top talents in the region.
Neither Bullets nor Durban City FC has officially commented on the matter.
