Rowland Brown, an employee at the Immigration headquarters in Lilongwe, has been arrested for allegedly receiving a bribe amounting to K300,000.
The arrest follows a visit to the Lilongwe offices by the Deputy Minister of Homeland Security, Honourable Norman Chisale, after a complaint was lodged by Kapuwa Fred from Ntchisi, who had been making follow-ups on his matter for a period of one year and several months.
Speaking after the visit, Honourable Chisale said such inspections of offices will continue and will also involve the Minister of Homeland Security, Honourable Peter Mukhito.
Brown has admitted the offence and apologized to the people of Malawi for his corrupt conduct.
In conclusion, Fred received his passport, which was processed and released within five minutes.
