A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has called for all politicians regardless of their parties out of the commission of inquiry to investigate circumstances surrounding the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, in the Chikangawa forest in June, 2024.
Speaking in Parliament, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Charles Mhango, said the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, is very painful to all Malawians saying this is why Malawians are demanding answers on what happened for the plane to crash and who was involved for justice to be seen.
Mhango said it is the wish of each and everyone in the country including President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, to see to it that the case is closed with justice to be seen.
Two MCP legislators Moses Kunkuyu and Eisenhower Mkaka have been quoted in the media having welcomed the inquiry and given it a go ahead for the truth to prevail.
However, Kunkuyu and Mkaka suggested that the fresh investigation should not be carried out by politicians fearing that the case has directly or indirectly been politicized by the DPP.
Kamphangala said even though President Professor Mutharika has thrown the ball into the hands of Parliament to appoint members to serve in the commission, politicians should in no way be connected to the inquiry to avoid noise.
Kamphangala has appealed to parliamentarians that for Dr. Chilima’s inquiry to be trusted, they should let Malawians to decide on who should be in the commission of inquiry for the Report to be adopted by all Malawians regardless of their political party affiliations.
He said genuine activists such as Bakili Muluzi TV, Ntanyiwa, Bon Kalindo, Lytone Mangochi, Bishop Kachenje, Pastor Moses Shumba, Comrade Jumbe, and Hon. Kamlepo Kalua, among others, can do the investigation proving beyond reasonable doubts in the eyes of all Malawians that justice will now be seen in Dr. Chilima’s death.
The MCP diehard said journalists who defied MCPs free for all money by courageously sacrificing their lives to die for the change of leadership in Malawi such as Burnett Munthali, Suleman Chitera, and Jones Gadama among others, must be incorporated into the commission of inquiry as the true patriots for Malawi.
” Appointing politicians by their names and positions, will be just a waste of resources for nothing, the impact will not be seen, and all Malawians will treat the inquiry dead before releasing the investigation report,” said Kamphangala.
He has suggested that these genuine activists and journalists should submit the investigation report to Parliament and in turn, it will be submitted to President Professor Mutharika.
The MCP diehard has also suggested that these genuine activists and journalists can be directed by Malawians as people demanding the fresh commission of inquiry on who and where to submit the report for justice to be finally seen.
He has finally reminded Parliament that Chakwera’s commission of inquiry was declared dead on arrival soon after announcing members, saying Malawians don’t want this to happen again in the country with them being involved in the Dr. Chilima’s commission of inquiry.
