A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has faulted former President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera wrong for preaching politics of anger at a funeral Service for the late Sub Traditional Authority Malembo in Lilongwe.

Kamphangala said President Chakwera was supposed to hold a political rally to articulate his anger against the new government of the DPP but he chose the funeral Service as a platform to communicate his message of anger to the public describing this as very unfortunate.

He said Dr. Chakwera should always be reminded that he is holding a public office of the former president and above all, he is an ordained Priest of the Malawi Assemblies of God Church and what he speaks reflects back to what he is.

The MCP diehard has accused those surrounding President Chakwera of not advising him in good faith saying his speech turned the whole funeral Service into laughter with people clapping hands at his speech.

In his speech, Chakwera said people fought for a war and killed each other in those days, but they chose peace carrying all the sins perpetrated by others.

Chakwera said names such as Chakwera, Chiwaula and Chisinga are associated with war but they told the people to stop war and he is for peace saying that is why he accepted that Malawians should not go into war.

He appealed to the gathering to always remember that God is the King of Peace and he left peace saying for the fact that they love peace, it doesn’t mean that they don’t have hands or power to fight back but for Malawi to be in peace.

” I am for peace, don’t take me for granted, “osanditengera kuntoso,” said Chakwera amid clapping hands and ululations from the gatherings.

During the funeral Service, Dr. Chakwera appealed to the people to respect themselves that that they are Malawians, they do not have any other home apart from Malawi they have.

Kamphangala said the remarks which were made by President Chakwera were a complete departure from the eulogies hence demanding an apology from him to the bereaved family of the late Sub T/A Malembo.

He said this should serve as a warning to politicians and other self – spoken people to learn to delegate others to speak for them not that they cannot speak fluently in public but giving respect to all that have come to attend the gathering.

He has finally appealed to the MCP to organize a meeting for President Chakwera to address party members and supporters claiming that what he spoke at the funeral Service was not completed, he needs a special day.
