In a fiery rally held this afternoon in Machinga Central East, DPP Regional Governor for the East, Daud Chikwanje, declared an all-out campaign to deliver a resounding victory for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika in the upcoming elections.
“I’m not just reclaiming my parliamentary seat — I’m fighting for the soul of the East. We’re going for nothing less than 90% for APM!” thundered Chikwanje, to a cheering crowd of party supporters.
The eastern political powerhouse — comprising Zomba, Machinga, Mangochi, and parts of Ntcheu — is a key battleground. Chikwanje says the region will turn blue come September, as he rallies grassroots supporters to mobilize, vote, and protect the ballot.
With energy, ambition, and a clear target, Chikwanje’s rallying cry has sparked new momentum within the DPP base — signaling that the East is ready for a political showdown.
