Government Revokes Business Licence Of Ichocho Security Company

The Ministry of Homeland Security has ordered the revocation of a business license for Blantyre-based security company Ichocho following a dramatised clip which is said to have raised public alarm among Malawians.

Minister responsible, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma made the directive in Lilongwe during a press briefing after meeting heads of various departments under his ministry.

“You don’t dramatise security issues so I have ordered my officers to revoke the licence,” Zikhale Ng’oma said.

He has since warned security companies to avoid using any military attire when conducting their duties.

Also, the minister said the government will maintain its stand on the removal of some roadblocks in the country saying they were not serving its intended purposes.

He said police will continue to use adhoc roadblocks as part of enhancing security in the country.

“You know some of these roadblocks were there only to milk from Malawians. At the moment we are using hotline numbers both at the Department of Immigration as well as the 997 at the Malawi Police Service.” Ng’oma.

During the meeting, Zikhale Ng’oma also maintained the government’s stand of relocating all the refugees to Dzaleka Camp.
