Rumphi East Member of Parliament, Kamlepo Kalua through the Speaker of the House, asked Minister of Homeland Security to recommend to the president the pardoning of former Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Uladi Mussa.

Mussa, who was Democratic Progressive Party vice president for the central region, was jailed for five years imprisonment in October 2020 for abuse of public office and negligence of official duties.

Responding to journalists outside Parliament, Minister of Homeland Security, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma said it is the prerogative of the President only to pardon prisoners.

He has added that if the name is presented to his office, he will take it to President Lazarus Chakwera who has the mandate to pardon prisoners.
