A grouping operating under the banner of Concerned Muslims has stepped into the spotlight with a bold and strategic endorsement of candidates contesting for top positions in the (MAM), injecting fresh momentum into the highly anticipated elections.
The dramatic development follows a decisive ruling by the high court, which nullified the disputed 2021 elections and ordered a rerun—effectively resetting the race for leadership and opening a new chapter for the association.
Addressing journalists during a press conference, said the endorsements reflect the collective voice of ordinary Muslims who are demanding credible, transparent, and forward-thinking leadership.
“This is about the future of our association. The people have spoken, and we are simply amplifying their voice,” Msiya emphasized.
Concerned Muslims stressed that the electoral process will follow established structures, where delegates chosen at district and regional levels will vote for members of the central executive committee, including the national chairperson.
The group’s involvement signals a shift in influence, with grassroots forces now playing a more visible role in shaping the outcome. Their endorsed candidates are being positioned as reform-driven leaders ready to restore confidence and unity within MAM.
With elections expected soon, tension and anticipation are building across the Muslim community. The big question remains: will these endorsements tip the scale, or will voters chart a different course?
As the countdown begins, one thing is clear—this is more than just an election; it is a defining moment for the future of the Muslim Association of Malawi.
