Pressure Is Mounting Police To Arrest Six Toll Collectors

By Suleman Chitera Mar23,2022

Pressure is mounting for the police to swiftly arrest six toll collectors implicated in the theft of millions of funds at Chingeni and Kalinyeke toll gates.

Already the Roads Fund Administration – RFA has suspended the officers for allegedly manipulating the toll payment system by issuing unwarranted duplicate receipts to unsuspecting motorists.

The incident has ignited public anger and frustration including formidable demands for tough action to be meted out on the culprits.

Adding its voice to the calls, the leadership of the Concerned Citizens Timely Voice – CCTV declares that it would not hesitate to take to the streets should appropriate authorities fail to act on the suspects.

CCTV executive director Bon Kalindo contends that continued theft of public funds will only be stemmed if the police and the Anti-Corruption Bureau act with speed on cases like the current one.
