Chitipa United risk being banned from the Northern Region Football Association – NRFA SIMSO-Innobuild League over allegations of match-fixing.
Rival teams are accusing the current league leaders of bribing referees and other team’s players and officials to influence the outcome of their games or those involving other teams.
Purported evidence gathered by the accusers suggests that Chitipa United were offering 10,000 kwachas to Chintheche United players before the two teams’ recent encounter.
Five teams: Chintheche United, Mighty Rumphi Wanderers, Kadona Stars, Baka City and Mzimba United have written the NRFA to take action against Chitipa United else they will boycott their outstanding games.
Mavuto Kamanga, Chintheche United Technical Director says he was approached with money to allow the Chitipa United team win its game against them and they found it wrong.
Meanwhile, NRFA General Secretary Masiya Nyasulu is disclosing that they have called for a meeting with the concerned teams to try and resolve the matter.
