The Peace Summit 2023 a flagship programme of the Universal Peace Federation has opened in Seoul, South Korea where Malawi First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera is in attendance.
Speaking when he opened the conference, former US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, encouraged participants not to lose hope in peace because the peace agenda will be achieved in the long run.
Later, the First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera joined the International Association of First Ladies for Peace (IAFLP) breakaway session where she gave a keynote address. Madam Chakwera’s address dwelled much on this year’s theme, Contemporary Challenges to Global Order, Towards a World Culture of Peace focusing on Malawi.
The First Lady shared with participants the problems Malawi is facing following the devastating impact of Cyclone Freddy. Madam Chakwera has since invited Dr Hak Ja Han Moon, founder of the Universal Peace Federation International to visit Malawi
The summit has gathered politicians, religious leaders, youths, academicians, activists and community leaders from 150 countries with an agenda of promoting peace across the globe.
