Barcelona midfielder Pedri has revealed he was eager for Dani Olmo to join the club and says the two players laughed off claims they couldn’t play together at Euro 2024.
Olmo’s arrival at Barcelona this summer raised a few eyebrows, with some fans wondering if the Spain star was really needed.
However, Olmo has made a bright start to life back at Barcelona, and Pedri has told El Mundo he wanted his international team-mate in Catalunya.
“At the Euros we laughed because we heard that we couldn’t play together, that we were wondering who was going to start… We knew we could do it and, in addition, we get along very well and we understand each other on the field,” he said.
“If they tried to play us off each other, they didn’t succeed because we joked and teased each other about it, saying, ‘No, we can’t play together. Sorry.’ We knew that maybe after the summer we would get together and it would be perfect.
Pedri and Olmo are currently together again with the Spain squad for Nations League fixtures but will then head back to Barca for a clash with Girona
