Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli believes that the £45 million Arsenal star can outscore Bukayo Saka this season
Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has backed his Brazil teammate Gabriel Jesus to outscore Bukayo Saka in the upcoming season, as the Gunners set their sights on their first Premier League title in two decades.
Arsenal narrowly missed out on the title last season, and many believe their lack of a clinical striker played a key role in their shortfall. Bukayo Saka has been Arsenal’s top scorer for three consecutive seasons, a testament to his exceptional talent, but it also highlights the absence of a lethal number nine in the squad.
Speaking to the Premier League on TikTok, Martinelli made a bold prediction for the season ahead, stating that Jesus, Arsenal’s £45 million signing, will be the club’s top scorer.
“Top goalscorer will be Gabi Jesus. He is an amazing player and he always scores some nice goals, that is my opinion,” Martinelli said.
While Martinelli’s confidence in Jesus is clear, the Brazilian striker will need to step up if he is to surpass Saka as Arsenal’s leading scorer. Jesus has never scored more than 14 goals in a Premier League campaign, and last season he managed just four league goals.
If Arsenal are to challenge for the title once again, Jesus will need to find his form and maintain his fitness throughout the season. His ability to deliver consistently in front of goal will be crucial in determining Arsenal’s success, especially with competition from Saka, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard for the top scorer spot.
Jesus has the potential to be a star for Arsenal this season, but he will need a significant improvement in his goal tally to meet Martinelli’s prediction and help lead Arsenal’s charge for silverware
