Former FAM Vice President Othaniel Hara dies in road accident

The Malawian football community is mourning the tragic death of Othaniel Hara, former Second Vice President of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), who passed away in a road accident on Friday. The accident occurred at Mtwalo in Mzimba District as Hara was traveling back from his home village, Mpherembe.

The news was confirmed by Hara’s brother, Franklin Hara, who expressed deep sorrow over the untimely loss. Hara, aged 58, was known for his significant contributions to Malawian football, having served as FAM’s Second Vice President for eight years under the leadership of Walter Nyamilandu Manda. His tenure was marked by a commitment to the development of football in Malawi, with initiatives aimed at advancing the sport at both grassroots and professional levels.

His body is currently being held at the Mzuzu Central Hospital Mortuary as the family prepares for funeral arrangements. Hara’s passing has left a void in the football community, with many paying tribute to his dedication and passion for the sport. His contributions to Malawian football will be remembered as the community honors his legacy.
