Kasungu money transfer agent hospitalized after alleged poisoning following K100,000 theft

A young woman working as a money transfer agent in Kasungu is reportedly in critical condition after consuming poison. The woman, who allegedly ingested the poison after realizing that K100,000 had been stolen from her, is now receiving medical care as community members rushed her to the hospital.

The incident reportedly took place this morning in the area under Chief Kaomba in Kasungu District, according to Henrys Phiri, a local informant. Upon discovering the missing funds, the young agent appears to have taken the drastic step, leaving her in a life-threatening situation.

Joseph Kachikho, the spokesperson for the Kasungu Police, has acknowledged the incident but stated that he needs more time to gather details and conduct a thorough investigation before issuing an official statement.

As authorities look into the circumstances surrounding the theft and the agent’s condition, this incident highlights the psychological strain and pressures faced by small business agents entrusted with significant financial responsibilities.
