UN Women Launch 2024-2025 Strategic Plan

The United Nations (UN) Women Malawi has launched its strategic plan that runs from 2024-2028.

The framework is earmarked to guide transformative initiatives in gender equality and women empowerment across the country through among other things, increased participation of women in politics and governance, empowering women through skills, governance and economic opportunities and coordinated efforts to achieve gender equality.

Speaking when presiding over the launch in Lilongwe, Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare Jean Sendeza challenged the organization to ensure full implementation of the plan.

UN Women Malawi Country representative Letty Chiwara expressed optimism that the plan will be fully implemented as the organization has already sourced funds for some programmes under the plan.

Non Governmental Organization Gender coordination network Chairperson Maggie Kathewera Banda commended UN Women for coming up with the plan.
