Former Blantyre City Legislator now based in the United States of America (USA) Hon. Allan Ngumuya, has expressed his deep concern about the level of poverty and hunger in the country describing this as so devastating.
Ngumuya said the soaring price of maize is another major concern saying many Malawians are not even worried how expensive maize has become but they cannot afford it observing that Malawians are now living in a worst government which has no welfare of them.
He said while thousands of Malawians are struggling to afford food, president Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is distributing handouts amounting to K200,000 each to youths attending the SONA describing this as another wasteful of public resources.
Writing on his face book page, Ngumuya has urged young people of Malawi not to allow MCP continue running the country, they should rescue themselves from corrupt and incompetent politicians who are only there to exploit them for their personal gain.
Ngumuya said the future of Malawi depends on the choices the youths make today, advising them to choose wisely saying Malawi is in dire need of a new bright and brave President-one with vast experience and a genuine love for this country.
He said the country has sunk in almost all aspects-economically, socially, and even physically saying the decline is due to incompetent leadership of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who has no clue about what is happening in the country.
The former Parliamentarian said instead of President Chakwera addressing real issues affecting Malawians, he is busy handing out money to the youth, saying this is nothing but a tactic to manipulate them while ignoring the deeper problems facing the country.
He said looking at Malawi’s history, Malawians have never had a President as ineffective as Chakwera saying he has completely lost control of the country, and has even failed to manage his own cabinet, he struggles to make timely decisions that could help Malawians in these difficult times.
Ngumuya said one of his greatest failures Chakwera made has been his reluctance to implement the recommendations of Public Sector Reforms (PSR) to clear the rubble in government, but himself has turned into the rubble.
He said Malawi need a leader who is both “youthful and useful” that leader is Dr. Dalitso Kabambe saying he has dedicated his entire career to serving Malawi observing that during the late Professor Bingu wa Mutharika’s presidency, Malawi’s economy thrived.
“Under Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s administration from 2014 to 2020, the country’s economy remained stable, with 23 years’ experience in economic management, he is the rightful person to lead Malawi forward,´ reads Ngumuya’s writings on the wall.
