The Democratic Progress Party (DPP) has firmly denied any unfounded, accusations made by MCP Spokesperson Dr. Jessie Kabwila that allege that the party’s involvement in the challenges plaguing the country.
The DPP says it stands by its unwavering commitment to the fundamental principles of Patriotism, Hard work, and Justice which define the very core of the party saying the current economic struggles faced by the citizen, are a pressing concern for the DPP leadership.
The party says with the skyrocketing prices of basic necessities and essential services, inflation has undoubtedly taken a toll on the country saying this dire situation can be attributed to the incompetent leadership of the MCP government who, instead of providing solutions, resorts to empty rhetoric, propaganda and false accusations against the DPP.
In a statement dated 11th March, 2025 signed by its Spokesperson Shadric Namalomba, the DPP says it is absurd to suggest that the DPP would collude with the private sector to manipulate prices and harm fellow Malawians.
The DPP says the party does not own any shops, its focus is solely on creating an environment conducive for businesses to thrive saying shop owners themselves face the harsh reality of procuring raw materials from abroad which has become increasingly difficult due to the scarcity of foreign exchange, mostly available at exorbitant rates on the black market.
“The MCP government’s failure to address these critical issues only serves to waste the precious time of our people,” reads the statement in part.
The DPP has claimed that for the past 5 years, the MCP have consistently shifted blame to external factors such as COVID-19 pandemic, Cyclones, the Ukraine-Russia war, and now baseless accusations against it.
The Party says the people of Malawi are not easily swayed and can see through these excuses behind their struggles saying with the upcoming elections on the 16th September, 2025, it is urging all Malawians to rally behind Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as he is the leader who can lift the nation out of these challenging times.
The Party has finally said Dr. Jessie Kabwila is exhibiting a dangerous thirst of power saying time has proven that those who have treaded down this path have ultimately failed into irrelevance.
