Lilongwe, Malawi – Malawi has expressed gratitude to Zimbabwe as the latter delivers a third humanitarian aid package worth 500,000 US Dollars to support communities facing severe food shortages.
Chief Secretary Justin Adack Saidi lauded Zimbabwe’s gesture, noting that it demonstrates strong bilateral ties and solidarity during Malawi’s ongoing food crisis. “This support is a testament to the enduring friendship between our nations, especially in these challenging times,” Saidi said.
Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Malawi, Nancy Saungwene, reiterated her government’s commitment to standing with Malawi, describing the assistance as a reflection of the shared responsibility and partnership between the two countries.
This latest package follows previous contributions, including maize supplies, aimed at alleviating the impact of prolonged dry spells in Malawi.
The humanitarian aid comes as Malawi remains under a State of Disaster, with millions affected by widespread food insecurity across the country. Authorities continue to call for both domestic and international support to address the growing crisis.
