Kamangila complains that Malawi has no law to protect whistle blowers

Human Rights Lawyer Alexious Kamangila, says Malawi has no law that protect corruption whistle blowers claiming that there are only a few people who report corruption practices to the Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Kamangila said his activism is not for anyone saying God chose him for a purpose, He gave him the job and He is protecting him from those who are planning evil against him.

He said he was not meant to serve his family alone but the country, God is doing it through him, no one can touch him saying even the white people are not happy with him afraid that tomorrow he will expose their corruption syndrome.

Speaking through Tuuzeni zoona programme on Zodiak Radio aired on Sunday, Counsel Kamangila said donors have been providing resources to institutions fighting against corruption in Malawi but at no time these donors have come in to stand together with him in the corruption battle saying he is doing this alone taking God as his supporter and sponsor.

Kamangila said on the 4th October, 2024 he was nearly to be attacked by a group of people who wanted to the job God had sent him to do for Malawi to see light from darkness.

He said on 5th October, 2025 the day he was going to the Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) to board a plane, he was being followed by CID Police officers who wanted to arrest him and it took the former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to talk to police officers to leave him alone.

The human rights lawyer said Malawi has a good Constitution faulting the people that are using the Constitution as the ones that are bad saying this is making many people not to be trusting the courts in Malawi.

He cited one area which is putting the courts under disrepute by the people is Corruption, Fraud and Money Laundering offences saying this law is only protecting those that are doing the malpractice hence the authorities just preach it on paper.

Commenting on Amaryllis Hotel sale corruption, Kamangila said this should be a concern to all not only to public servants whose money kept by the Public Service Pension Trust Fund (PSPTF) was used for personal gains and not for the benefit of the country and its citizens.

Counsel Kamangila said the corruption syndrome happened at Amaryllis Hotel sale from K47 billion to 128 billion should be a wake up call to all public service officers to rise up and hold their government accountable for using the Pension Fund as their garden for money.

He has urged public servants to wake up from bed to fight corruption by themselves other than waiting for someone to fight for them saying him is just the whistle blower.
