Chakwera’s National Address On AIP Is Empty

There are still mixed reactions among some Nsanje District residents on President Lazarus Chakwera’s National Address with some describing it as half-baked and a mockery.

This follows random interviews Malawi Wathu Online conducted in the district following the president’s address.

Ibrahim Tsoka of Nsanje South thinks the president is taking much time to act despite knowing the culprits in his government.

Despite, some ministers, civil servants and other government officials being named and implicated in countless corruption scandals, none has been convicted thereby raising questions, ” he said.

Steven Pinto from Nsanje Boma faulted the Malawi leader for hand picking his cabinet which he is failing to take action whenever anything goes wrong in his government.

On the Affordable Inputs Program AIP, Pinto alleges president Chakwera is fully aware of all tricks played, which are still happening.

Another resident, Catherine Mailosi of area of Senior Chief Mlolo says Malawians were expecting the Head of State to tackle various challenges affecting the nation.

“It is just unfortunate that the president only focused on the AIP instead of other burning matters such as shortage of fuel, forex and closure of Admarc,” she lamented.

She further said Malawians are waiting eagerly on the new ministers Chakwera said is going to appoint.

On Tuesday, President Chakwera addressed the Nation on AIP matters where among others, he fired former Minister of Agriculture, Lobin Lowe and replaced him with Sam Kawale who was Lands Minister.
